104 BCD is the most common bolt pattern on double and triple cranksets and happens to be the first product ever made by Wolf Tooth Components. This chainring started it all for us. The Drop-Stop® tooth design is the best performing and longest lasting wide/narrow chainrings on the market.

  • Fits any 104 BCD crankset.

  • Drop-Stop technology. On Wolf Tooth’s patented wide/narrow chainring, the wide side of the tooth has maximum contact on the drive side which spreads the load and improves chainring life. The narrow side allows clearance for mud and debris which reduces friction.

  • Alternating wide/narrow tooth pattern prevents chain derailment.

Compatibility

  • Fits any 104 BCD crankset.
  • Designed to meet the requirements for E-bike use.
  • Chainring Bolts: Requires bolts that are 6mm long
  • 104 BCD 32T chainrings work on many older 2x Shimano crankset (XT, SLX, or Deore).
  • All sizes of 104 BCD chainrings are compatible with QUARQ power meters.
  • Drop-Stop A tooth profile is compatible with all 9, 10, and 11spd chain and 12 spd SRAM Eagle, Connex, and Wipperman chain. Drop-Stop A is NOT compatible with SRAM Transmission (T-type) 12spd, SRAM Road Flattop 12spd, or Shimano Hyperglide+ 12spd chain.
  • Drop-Stop B and Drop-Stop ST options that work with chains that are not compatible with Drop-Stop A are available here.

Recommendations

  • If you plan to ride in very muddy conditions, we recommend a chainguide or chainkeeper in addition to a clutch-type rear derailleur. Without these precautions, you may experience chaindrops and/or chainsuck.

Details

Details

Tooth shape is nearly identical to Drop-Stop A, but has narrower teeth. Valley between teeth is deeper to accommodate larger rollers on Flattop chain. Outside faces of narrow and wide teeth touch chain to guide alignment.

Drop Stop B Chainrings navigate_next

The original Drop-Stop tooth profile. The wide teeth are wider than Drop-Stop B. Outside faces of narrow and wide teeth guide chain alignment.

Drop Stop A Chainrings navigate_next

Narrower teeth than Drop-Stop A. Wide teeth use Symmetric Trapezoidal (ST) profile to match extended inner edge on chain to create alignment (outside faces of wide teeth do not touch). Interaction of narrow teeth and chain are similar to Drop-Stop A and B.

*We are in the process of migrating most Drop-Stop A to Drop-Stop B to make them compatible with  SRAM Road and Transmission (T-type) Flattop chains.
