Kurt Refsnider - Orogenesis

Kurt Refsnider just took off on his massive goal for 2025 - the brand new 5,000-mile-long Orogenesis Route, "The Longest MTB Trail In The World." He started rolling south from the Canadian border on Monday, August 4th, and if things go as planned, he will reach Cabo, Mexico, by mid-December.

The route through WA/OR/CA has been developed as a mountain bike version of the Pacific Crest Trail and is ~40% singletrack and almost entirely dirt. The route hasn't yet been ridden, so I've volunteered to be the guinea pig to test out the years of work that have gone into Orogenesis thus far. And for better or worse, I get to start with the hardest part - there's something like 120,000' feet of climbing in Washington's 650 miles of the route!

Kurt just dropped the first podcast-from-the-trail episode in a series called "Orogenesis Dispatches." Each episode will be part of the Spin Cycle Podcast Series on Escape Collective. The goal is to get an episode out every two weeks or so. Thanks to Wolf Tooth and Hyperlite Mountain Gear for helping make those possible. Listen via the link below!

Alexey Vermuelen: Victorious at Chequamegon

Chequamegon is one of the races in the LTGP that is easily overlooked, but in my opinion has the most exciting finish line of the whole series. What seems on paper to be a very straight forward race never ends up being so simple, but who doesn't like a 20-30 person sprint to the finish line?
