Of heat maps, memory, and a remote intersection in Nevada
Ten days later, I reached one of those rare intersections where past and present journeys suddenly are shared in one moment. I had dropped out of the mountains heights of Great Basin National Park and plodded on fatigued feet into the sprawling Snake Valley, and a 25-mile-long walk stretched out ahead of me through the basin. In that unlikely place, memories swirled through my head.
